Mataga Mini Hospital Officially Opens in Mberengwa, Zimbabwe
Mataga Mini Hospital in Mberengwa, Zimbabwe, was officially opened on 4 July 2025, with the Honourable Minister of Health and Child Care, Dr. Douglas Mombeshora, presiding over the ceremony. The 20-bed facility represents a significant milestone in the flagship health infrastructure program delivered through a partnership between NMS Infrastructure Limited (UK) and the Government of Zimbabwe.
This marks the fourth healthcare facility completed under the program, which aims to improve healthcare access across underserved regions of Zimbabwe.
Strategically located along a major highway, Mataga Mini Hospital is expected to serve as a vital resource for the surrounding rural communities and to respond effectively to medical emergencies. Dr. Mombeshora emphasized the government’s commitment to fully equipping the hospital and ensuring medical personnel receive the necessary training to meet the demands of the facility, including its role in supporting the newly established Dinson mine nearby.
The opening of Mataga Mini Hospital is part of a broader national initiative to transform healthcare delivery through the construction of new health centers and district hospitals. In addition to expanding physical infrastructure, the government is also investing in improved working conditions for healthcare professionals and enhancing supporting systems such as access to clean water and solar power.
This continued investment underscores a long-term commitment to equitable, accessible, and high-quality healthcare for all Zimbabweans.
